The Registan was the heart of the ancient city of Samarkand of the Timurid dynasty, now in Uzbekistan. After months navigating the ancient Silk Route skirting China's border, we arrived in Samarkand exhausted but thrilled to be able to experience the legendary city and photograph what is thought to be the oldest continually used religious building in the world.
walking back to our bikes through the French Quarter I spotted an old ford with a smokey exhaust that was pulling away from the curbside. The exhaust fumes we're lit by the street light and so out came the camera again.
