In North Carolina, Lisa and I head up to photograph the triple falls, but we spotted this beautiful moss-covered tree trunk. The piercing light through the forest made this shot special. I have 48 shots that didn't work but this one did.
Across the river and in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge this was a fun spot to watch the city come to life.
The Registan was the heart of the ancient city of Samarkand of the Timurid dynasty, now in Uzbekistan. After months navigating the ancient Silk Route skirting China's border, we arrived in Samarkand exhausted but thrilled to be able to experience the legendary city and photograph what is thought to be the oldest continually used religious building in the world.
