This shot was at the start of a long cold day as we climbed the elevations over the Pamir Mountain Range toward the Tajikistan border and immigration control. This landscape is vast, raw and beautiful
Stopping to take photos was risky as we crossed Australia via it's longest axis, from the northeast tip, diagonally to the south-west tip. Water and fuel were a constant issue and running out could have been deadly. But this endless track and the giant termite mound were reason enough. The was a brutal ride.
I had to pull over and shoot Lisa as she rode through this archway of silver birch as we rode north on America's Continental Divide Trail.
