Lisa and I had ridden, what was then the most difficult and demanding ride of our lives through Africa and Senegal to the reach the border with Mali. The river was meant to be no more than a trickle. When we saw this our heart sank and we knew that if the bikes went into the river, they were not coming out again and our dream ride would be over.
